After a 2020 breakout that saw entertainment platforms cover five years of anticipated growth in less than half the timei, video streaming appears to be joining much of life in a return to pre-pandemic norms, but that slowdown has not necessarily translated into a downturn for streaming localization. With the VoD market growing toward an estimated $257 billion by 2029 (CAGR 17.6%)ii, a healthy trajectory belies the many challenges to retaining audiences month-to-month for platforms like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and a profusion of other publishers courting a highly fickle viewership.
